About Word Counter
Word Counter is a free browser-based tool for tracking the length of anything you write. Paste your text and watch the counts update in real time β words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, reading time, keyword density, and more. Perfect for hitting exact word limits on essays, blog posts, tweets, or SEO meta tags.
Beyond counting, it surfaces useful writing statistics: your longest word, average word length, longest sentence, and the top-10 most-used words by frequency (keyword density). A word-goal progress bar lets you see how close you are to your target as you type.
100% client-side: counting runs in your browser. Your text is never uploaded or stored β safe for drafts, private notes, or confidential writing.

Key Features
Live word + character counting
Every keystroke updates the counts instantly. Two character measures β with spaces and without β for platforms that treat whitespace differently.
Sentence + paragraph detection
We split on ., !, and ? for sentences and blank lines for paragraphs, then show averages so you can spot run-on sentences at a glance.
Reading + speaking time
Reading time is calculated at 225 words per minute (typical adult reading speed for prose). Speaking time uses 130 wpm β the standard for narration, presentations, and voice-overs.
Keyword density (top 10)
The 10 most-frequent non-stopword tokens in your text, with bar-chart proportions. Great for SEO β makes sure you're not stuffing one word or under-mentioning your focus keyword.
Platform-limit tracker
Live green/red indicators for tweet (280), meta description (160), title tag (60), SMS (160), and Facebook post (63,206) limits. Never write past a hard cap again.
Word-goal progress bar
Set a target word count and watch a bar fill toward it as you type. Perfect for essays, assignments, or NaNoWriMo-style daily targets.
Extras: longest word, longest sentence, unique words
Extra metrics for editors β spot your longest sentence to break up walls of text, or your unique-word count to gauge vocabulary variety.
